In the top of the sixth inning, the Indians added to their lead. Ramirez led off the inning with a single, and Reyes followed with a double to put runners on second and third. A sacrifice fly from Eddie Rosario brought home Ramirez, and a single from Yu Chang brought home Reyes to make the score 4-0 in favor of the Indians.
The Tigers were unable to mount any sort of comeback against Bieber, who went eight innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out nine batters. Mize was pulled after six innings, having allowed four runs on six hits while striking out six batters.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Tigers were able to push across a run against Indians’ closer Emmanuel Clase, but it was too little, too late, and the Indians secured the victory by a score of 4-1.
The Indians’ offense was led by Ramirez, who went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, and Reyes, who went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Hernandez also contributed with a double and a run scored. The Tigers’ offense struggled to get anything going against Bieber, with Cabrera’s single in the fourth inning being their only hit until the ninth inning.
Overall, it was a strong performance from the Indians, who improved their record to 8-5 on the season. Bieber continued to establish himself as one of the best pitchers in the league, while Ramirez and Reyes showed why they are two of the most dangerous hitters in the Indians’ lineup.
