The Detroit Pistons were founded in 1941 and have won three NBA championships in their history. They are known for their “Bad Boys” era of the late 1980s and early 1990s, during which they won back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990. The team is currently in a rebuilding phase, having missed the playoffs in each of the last three seasons.
Strengths
The Pistons have a solid frontcourt, led by Jerami Grant, who is averaging 22.5 points per game this season. Grant is an excellent scorer and can also contribute on the defensive end of the floor. Alongside Grant, the Pistons have rookie center Isaiah Stewart, who is averaging 8.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Stewart is a tenacious rebounder and shot-blocker, and has shown flashes of potential on the offensive end.
In addition to their frontcourt, the Pistons have some solid young talent in their backcourt. Weaknesses
The Pistons’ biggest weakness is their lack of experience and depth. While they have some promising young players, they lack the veteran leadership and depth needed to compete at a high level. Additionally, they have struggled on the defensive end of the floor, allowing the fifth-most points per game in the league.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder were founded in 2008, after the franchise moved from Seattle. The team has one NBA championship to its name, having won in 1979 as the Seattle SuperSonics. The Thunder are currently in a rebuilding phase, having traded away several key players in recent years.
Strengths
The Thunder have a talented young core, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 22.6 points per game this season and has shown the ability to take over games when needed. Alongside Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder have a promising duo of young guards in Theo Maledon and Ty Jerome. Maledon has shown flashes of potential as a playmaker, while Jerome has been a reliable scorer off the bench.
