The Astros retook the lead in the top of the fifth inning, when first baseman Yuli Gurriel hit a two-run home run to left field. The Twins cut into the Astros’ lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when shortstop Jorge Polanco hit an RBI single to score center fielder Byron Buxton.
The Astros added an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning, when third baseman Alex Bregman hit an RBI single to score right fielder Kyle Tucker. Astros closer Ryan Pressly closed out the game with a scoreless ninth inning, securing the Astros’ victory over the Twins.
One of the key factors in the Astros’ victory was their offense’s ability to come up with big hits. Yuli Gurriel’s two-run home run in the fifth inning provided the Astros with the lead, while Alex Bregman’s RBI single in the ninth inning provided some much-needed insurance.
Another key factor in the game was the Astros’ bullpen’s ability to shut down the Twins’ offense. After Zack Greinke’s solid outing, the Astros’ bullpen of Cristian Javier, Brooks Raley, and Ryan Pressly combined for three innings, allowing only one run on two hits and striking out five batters.
In contrast, the Twins struggled to come up with timely hits throughout the game. Despite scoring two runs, they were only able to muster six hits off of the Astros’ pitching staff. They will be looking to improve their offensive performance in their upcoming games.
José BerrÃos’ strong outing was a bright spot for the Twins. He pitched six innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out five batters. However, the Twins’ bullpen was not able to keep the game close, allowing one run in the final three innings of the game.
In conclusion, the Houston Astros’ victory over the Minnesota Twins was a result of timely hitting and strong bullpen performance. The Astros will be looking to continue their strong start to the season in their upcoming games, while the Twins will be looking to bounce back and get their first win of the season.
