On April 24th, 2021, Manchester City faced off against Sheffield United in a Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium. The goal came from a penalty kick after Kyle Walker was brought down in the box. Aguero calmly converted the penalty, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way and giving City a 1-0 lead.
After the goal, City continued to dominate possession and create chances, but they were unable to extend their lead before halftime. Sheffield United, on the other hand, had few chances to score and were mainly focused on defending and preventing City from scoring.
In the second half, City picked up where they left off and continued to control the game. In the 65th minute, they were awarded another penalty after Ethan Ampadu handled the ball in the box. Aguero stepped up again and scored his second goal of the game, giving City a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Sheffield United tried to respond by bringing on several attacking players, but City’s defense held strong and prevented them from creating any clear-cut chances. In the 82nd minute, City put the game to bed when Ferran Torres scored a brilliant goal. After receiving a pass from Gabriel Jesus, Torres cut inside and curled the ball into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
The game ended 3-0 in favor of Manchester City, who were deserved winners. They dominated possession throughout the game and created numerous chances, while Sheffield United struggled to create anything meaningful. Aguero was the standout player for City, scoring two goals and providing a constant threat to the Sheffield United defense.
This win for City was their 24th in their last 25 games in all competitions, a remarkable run of form that has seen them establish a comfortable lead at the top of the Premier League table. They have been the best team in the league this season and are well on their way to winning their third Premier League title in four years.
Sheffield United, on the other hand, are facing a tough battle to avoid relegation. They are currently rooted to the bottom of the table and are 14 points from safety with just five games remaining. While they put up a good fight against City, they ultimately lacked the quality to compete with one of the best teams in Europe.
