The German winger received the ball on the left-hand side, cut inside onto his right foot, and curled a beautiful shot into the top corner of the net.
Manchester City responded by bringing on Gabriel Jesus and Ferran Torres, and they continued to press forward. They finally got their reward in the 73rd minute when Phil Foden scored a brilliant goal to make it 2-1. The young midfielder received the ball on the edge of the box, turned his marker, and curled a shot into the bottom corner of the net.
The goal gave Manchester City renewed hope, and they pushed forward in search of an equalizer. They came close to scoring on several occasions, with Jesus and Mahrez both going close.
However, Bayern Munich’s defense held firm, and they were able to see out the game and secure a 2-1 victory. The result means that Bayern Munich advance to the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League, while Manchester City are eliminated from the competition.
