The Anfield faithful erupted in celebration, and it looked like the Reds were going to hold on for the win. However, there was still time for one last twist in the tale.
In the dying seconds of the game, Leeds United were awarded a penalty after a foul by Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk. Rodrigo stepped up to take the spot-kick, but Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker produced a stunning save to secure the win for the home side.
